Two Florida Boat Shows This Weekend

Boat shows this weekend in Barcelona, Stockholm and Florida all look like a lot of fun

Ft. Myers Boat Show

TWO big boating events in Florida offer something for everyone this weekend. First, the 38th Annual Ft. Myers Boat Show should be easy to find if you're in town.

The show, which runs today through Sunday, is spread out through the Harborside Convention Center, The Fort Myers Yacht Basin and along Edwards Drive in downtown Fort Myers. This is a traditional boat show offering seminars on fishing, safe boating and a preview of marine electronics for 2011. Of course, there will also be plenty of boats of all types on display, as well as lots of booths offering fishing and boating accessories. Kudos (do people really still say that?) to the folks at Ireland Yacht Sales and Regulator Marine for getting pictures of the show up on their Facebook page before the gates even opened this morning.

The Fort Myers show looks fantastic, but if you'd rather see boats in action instead of tied up to the docks, keep reading.

Planes, BOATS, and Automobiles (The other event in Florida)
If traditional boat shows are not your speed, head up north a couple of hours to the 4th Annual Roar 'n Soar at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, this Saturday and Sunday. This show will have fast planes, fast cars, and since it's being mentioned here, it must also have fast boats. This video from the Classic Race Boat Association will show you what to expect.

The Rest of the World
Internationally, the Scandinavian Boat Show kicked off yesterday in Stockholm, Sweden, and runs through Sunday the 14th. The Barcelona International Boat Show, which has been going on for a full week, also wraps up this Sunday.

As always, you can find links to the official websites, maps, and more for these and other upcoming events on our calendar of boat shows.
